Journey to Easter Island

With its location in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and the presence of a culture which is not well known its origin and development, Easter Island is a place of attraction and mystery. Who, when and why were these sculptures? It is a mystery. It is presumed that the island was inhabited since the earliest centuries of our times, and the moai are hundreds of years. It is known that many tribes lived on the island at one point fought among themselves and ravaged the territory. It is not known why they destroyed most of the moai.

Location
Easter Island, located at 27 º 09 south latitude and 109 º 26 west longitude, is located at a distance of 3,800 km of the central coast of Chile. At the extreme insularity of 1,900 km to the northwest is Pitcairn, the closest inhabited island is added to the small size of less than 170 km2. It is a perfect triangle
whose maximum length is 24 km and a maximum width of only 12 km.
